Keep your FSSAI licence active

How FSSAI validity works now
Under the FSSAI 2026 rules, once your registration or licence is granted it stays valid indefinitely — there is no five-year expiry and no renewal to file. What you must do each year is pay the annual fee to keep it active. If the annual fee goes unpaid, the licence is deemed suspended and you cannot legally trade until it is paid. Separately, the Annual Return (Form D1) is due 31 May each year for most licence holders. CAREALL tracks both dates and handles them for you — just send us your licence number.
Holding a licence issued before April 2026 with a printed expiry date? During the transition it may still show that date on FoSCoS — tell us and we'll keep it active for you.
Frequently asked questions
Do FSSAI licences still expire and need renewal?
No. Since the FSSAI 2026 amendment, a registration or licence is valid indefinitely — there is no 1–5 year term and no renewal application. You keep it active by paying the annual fee each year. If you hold a licence issued before April 2026, it may still show a printed expiry date during the transition; we help you carry it into the new system.
What happens if I do not pay the FSSAI annual fee?
If the annual fee is not paid, the licence is deemed suspended — you cannot legally run the food business until it is paid and the licence is reactivated. That is why keeping the annual fee paid on time matters. CAREALL tracks the date and pays it for you.
Is there any other yearly FSSAI deadline?
Yes — the Annual Return (Form D1) is due by 31 May each year for manufacturers, importers and many licence holders (Form D2 is filed half-yearly by dairy units). Filing it late carries a fee of ₹100 per day, capped at five times the annual fee. CAREALL files your return before the deadline.
